Jess can teach you in a safe, fun and supportive environment, our beginners course teaches you everything you need to know in a safe, friendly atmosphere. Even on day one you will be building strength and confidence, learning essential skills and techniques.

Skills Jess will help you gain from climbing

Single-pitch rock climbing requires a mix of technical, physical, and mental skills. Here’s an overview of the key skills that can be gained on your climbing journey:

Technical Skills, Over a block of lessons you will learn how to, Build Anchors, Belay, Tie Knots, Various Climbing Techniques, Abseil, Route Reading, Gear Placement, Communication. These are the essential skills you will learn over time to implement in your own climbing journey.

Physical Skills, Over time climbing builds Strength &Endurance, Balance & Flexibility, Coordination & Precision, which are skills that will benefit you in all aspects of life.

Mental Skills, Which are improved with climbing, Focus, Problem Solving, Risk Assessment, Fear Management, Confidence and Resilience.

Safety Skills, Understanding your limits is a really important skill to learn particularly when you go out climbing un guided. Environmental awareness and First Aid skills are important to learn and I would highly recommend outdoor first aid by Outfit Moray.

By mastering these skills, climbers can safely and effectively enjoy single-pitch climbing, whether in a gym or the great outdoors.

Hamish, for his 40th birthday, had a memorable surprise weekend near Inverness, enjoying thrilling climbing at the stunning Moy Rock. The picturesque scenery enhanced the experience, and he faced the climbs head-on, showing remarkable skill, while his friends cheered him on.

Michaela Kiersch’s Historic Ascent: In November 2024, American climber Michaela Kiersch became the first woman to climb both a V15 boulder problem and a 5.15 sport route. She achieved this by sending “Dreamtime” (V15) in Cresciano, Switzerland, following her ascent of “La Rambla” (5.15a) in 2023.
